Your worth in society depends on your health, age and contributions to society. At least, according to The System. You are given a score which is tattooed on your arm and changes every Assessment Day. Those with a high score can live happily and peacefully in the city whilst those with low scores barely scrape by, living off the bare minimum and experiencing the prejudice from the High Scores. Those with a score below 50 are ‘zeroed’. In other words, you are thrown outside the gates of Meritropolis to die, no exceptions. Sounds tough, right? Author Joel Ohman has cleverly created such a dark world filled with animal hybrids, corrupt government systems and the fear of our own ignorance.

By Ellie Bowker Most people know Amber Benson as Tara Maclay from the long running TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Since then, Benson has continued to work as an actress but hasn’t stopped there. Being the creative lady she is, Amber Benson has applied her talents to writing, and (drum roll, please) will be releasing a new book. Actually, not just a “new book” but the first in a series! The Witches of Echo Park is set to hit bookshops on January 6th. by the IWG Book Team 2014 was a great year for books. Unfortunately, there were so many books that we're sure that you didn't get around to reading everything. Neither did we, but still, the I'm With Geek team diligently selected from what literary delights we had devoured which were our favourite reads of the year. So whether you're looking for recommendations or just wanting to see if your favourite made the cut, come inside and check out our Best Books of 2014. By Ellie Bowker Everyone loves the internet. Everyone loves books. So the obvious thing to do would be to throw them both in to a metaphoric mixing bowl and metaphorically mix them together to create a fantastic hybrid of a book article. By Ellie Bowker Over here in this cosy little corner of I’m With Geek, it’s safe to say that we kind of have a thing for books. I know, it’s mind-blowing and you never would have guessed it. Among all us bookworms, there is this unspoken debate that always has a presence in a book related conversation and it just takes one little comment to pull the trigger and set off the biggest literary bomb. What debate is this? Printed books versus e-books. By Ellie Bowker There is something I need to get off of my chest. It’s been bugging me for a while now and I feel that in order to move forward, I need to be completely and totally honest with you. This is going to be hard. No, don’t look at me like that! The truth of the matter is that I judge a book by its cover. There! I said it! But is it really that big of an issue? By Ellie Bowker Even though the title of this book sounds very bizarre, Ketchup Clouds is a gripping must read book for all teenagers. Pitcher has perfectly captured the voice of teenager, Zoe, who is hiding a devastating secret that has left her ridden with guilt. Through letters to a serial killer on Death Row, Zoe shares her dark and terrible secret that she can’t confess to anyone that she knows. Zoe feels as if criminal, Stuart Harris, is the only person who can understand her as he is no stranger to secrets, lies and murder. by Ellie Bowker YouTube is the biggest video sharing website to date that attracts more than 1 billion viewers a month streaming around 6 billion hours of video. When the view records for some of YouTube’s top 100 channels have grown 80% in the past year, it’s no surprise that most teens are turning off the Hollywood blockbusters and turning on a YouTube video of your Average Joe vlogging (video blogging) about their day. The success of these YouTube personalities continues to grow every single day and some of our beloved YouTubers have spread themselves to different media which brings me to my point; YouTubers writing books. By Ellie Bowker It always gets very exciting when it’s announced that a book is going to be turned in to a film. There’s so much anticipation and excitement and anxiety and so many other feelings. You need to keep up to date with casting, filming locations, which parts of the book are going to be included and which parts are not.
