West Side Story. Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd and Gypsy. If you’ve seen either of those films, then you know of Stephen Sondheim. He is, quite literally, one of the greatest theatre composers lyricists of all time, and the aforementioned films are just a few of his works, the latter three being turned into films from their original stage versions. He’s an essential part of theatre life and why people like me can continue to enjoy the theatre today.

There are some film makers who have made their mark for being incredibly talented masters/mistresses of the screen. Other film-makers are notorious for their inexplicable success in spite of terrible examples of film making. George Lucas is an interesting mixture of both. On the one side, this is the man who gave the world the incredibly popular Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises that go beyond their film adaptations. On the other, he brought into the world the unpopular Star Wars prequel trilogies and Indiana Jones: The Crystal Skull which wasn’t a critical success to say the least. His talent is almost overshadowed by the amount of shudders uttering his name seems to bring, however the characters from the many films he’s produced, written and directed are arguably some of the most memorable and definitely something for cosplayers to take inspiration from. In no specific order, let’s crank it up to 11 with Great Characters To Cosplay From George Lucas Films!

If you thought Awards Season was over, you are very, very much mistaken. The one awards show I always look forward to is The Tony Awards. My level of anticipation and excitement can be compared to that of Cookie’s when it’s Oscar time. Yesterday, the Tony nominations were announced, much to the delight of us theatre nerds. Here is what we can expect and look forward to.

It was eleven months in the planning and the day had finally arrived (and it’s gone). My friend and I were actually getting to see a theatre legend live, in concert. Early last year, my friend Austin contacted me and asked if I wanted to go see Bernadette Peters, living Broadway legend and multiple Tony Award winner, live in concert. Who was I to turn this offer down?

In our modern times, it would appear that as a society we are starting to become more relaxed about how much flesh one may expose. Go into any high street store and among the t-shirts and dresses you’ll also find short shorts, tank tops and vests. Some may come to the conclusion that we’re becoming more accepting of people wearing whatever they want. This is kind of true but there are definite issues when it comes to some people’s personal judgement and this is unfortunately true in the world of cosplay. So with the issues facing cosplayers, especially women, there is one question when sorting a cosplay: to boob or not to boob? Translated: is it okay to show off cleavage, leg or anything at all?

Spring is a pretty interesting season of the year. Quite like Autumn, it’s a very transitional period of time in the weather. The April showers are mixed in with light sunshine and warming weather along with the blooming flowers springing free from the cold. And we are all finishing the last of the chocolate from the countless amount of egs Easter time is the chance for Christians to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus whilst the rest of us get a nice extended weekends and eat a lot of chocolate. With all that in mind, I’m sure you’re curious to know what kind of recommendations I may have for cosplay to specifically orientation to this time of year. I’ve come up with a list of outfits that would really fit. In no specific order, let’s crank it up to 6 with Great Characters To Cosplay This Spring

Bernadette Peters. The name may not ring a bell, nor would the face if you sat next to her on the tube, but it’s pretty much a given that you know her, either for her works or the simple fact that she does not age – at all. She’s one of the theatre’s most leading ladies. She’s fierce, unstoppable, and basically everything that every theatre performer desires to be. Let’s take a look at the talent that is Bernadette.

Inspiring change within the art ndustry is something that comes from the large institutes themselves. Though the climate is changing, there is still a problem with getting young artists into the careers that they so heavily desire. And, not to wield a sword so sharp and unrelenting, but the gap between male and female’s entering this three ringed circus called art is a stark, cold and large one.

We’ve hit that age where DVDs & Blu-rays are almost obsolete (“Noooo,” I hear from all the avid collectors like myself as I wail writing that sentence). A time way beyond that of terrestrial television and TV licensing. An age where everything is only a few clicks way and easily accessible. And everyone wants a slice of it: Sky, PS4, Virgin Media and more have developed a lovely way of streaming your online goodness right to your television screen. Furiously up on their tail is Amazon Prime, who gloriously release their new FireStick to tomorrow. Take it from me, it is definitely worth the purchase. |
