There are some film makers who have made their mark for being incredibly talented masters/mistresses of the screen. Other film-makers are notorious for their inexplicable success in spite of terrible examples of film making. George Lucas is an interesting mixture of both. On the one side, this is the man who gave the world the incredibly popular Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises that go beyond their film adaptations. On the other, he brought into the world the unpopular Star Wars prequel trilogies and Indiana Jones: The Crystal Skull which wasn’t a critical success to say the least. His talent is almost overshadowed by the amount of shudders uttering his name seems to bring, however the characters from the many films he’s produced, written and directed are arguably some of the most memorable and definitely something for cosplayers to take inspiration from.
In no specific order, let’s crank it up to 11 with Great Characters To Cosplay From George Lucas Films!
Jareth The Goblin King
Suggestion: If you are in any way able to sing like David Bowie, learn the songs from this film. It would be most impressive.
Han Solo in Carbonite
Suggestion: If you’re going around a convention, it may be worth making sure someone accompanies you to minimise the amount of people crashing.
Howard The Duck
An actual duck, feathers and all, with a snappy outfit and a cigar in the mouth* may not have made a good movie but definitely would make a striking cosplay
Madmartigan
This is definitely a cosplay for people who enjoy a bit of armour, obscure 80s films or knights in general.
Indiana & Professor Henry Jones tied to a chair
Suggestion: If the idea of being tied to another human being is unappealing, a dummy dressed in the clothes of whichever character you don’t cosplay as would be an interesting substitute.
Jabba The Hutt
Suggestion: Just because people are carting you around in a cart/trolley doesn’t mean they can’t cosplay too! They can take their pick from any of the patrons of the Cantina whether it’s a member of the band or a slave seeking to be free.
Stormtrooper
Marion Ravenwood
Dr Jenning whilst possessed
Mola Ram
Jar Jar Binks
Warning: This cosplay attempt may not be the wisest idea in a very public arena. It may be worth reserving this for a more private audience.
*Disclaimer: Whilst we are definitely not going to try and police people’s choices here on I’m With Geek, we would be irresponsible not to point out that smoking is generally very bad for your health. If you are going to be using any type of bondage in your cosplay please be careful and knowledgeable. Dolly carts may be fun to race around in but crashing into other people or objects will only lead to tears and possible Police intervention. Drink alcohol responsibly, legally and definitely not at a convention. We at I’m With Geek do not advocate carrying real knives as part of character play. Please use a prop at all times and be careful!
