In need of a new crime novel to whet your appetite for serial killers and whodunnit? Well, pop 8th May 2014 into your diary and look no further because Tony Parsons' latest novel The Murder Bag releases on this date!
A new trailer for this upcoming debut crime novel from Parsons was released by Cornerstone Publishing on You Tube yesterday, where you can indulge in snippets of information on The Murder Bag, and in what the story may contain. The title of The Murder Bag gives away a huge clue; a murder bag is a forensic kit which is taken to crime scenes to investigate a crime. Does Wolfe carry one? Or does the book earn it's title due to the many murder bags being used to investigate the many crimes in the story?
After viewing the trailer, we know that the main character of Detective Max Wolfe is a busy man with a lot going on inside his head. He is a single parent to a daughter, which is a difficult job on its own, but to top that, he and the rest of the homicide team at London's West End Central at 27 Savile Row are faced with a 'new type of killer'. One which has a preference for slicing men's throats.
Wolfe's daughter and life appear to be in jeopardy and entangled in the web that this mysterious killer has spun. The key of writing a good villain in a crime story is to always keep the reader guessing, and Parsons does this with effortless style through this trailer. The trailer itself is given to us with a lack of colour; only red, black and white, denoting the blood and darkness Wolfe's world may be drowning in throughout the novel. A line of red which seems to be following the outline of the Thames river line, echoing the 'trail of blood' which is mentioned, and giving clues on how morbid these crimes may be. Very simple but very effective, the trailer certainly creates the desired effect – you will not watch this trailer without searching for further information on the book, and popping the release date on your calendar!
The Murder Bag will be released under Century (part of Cornerstone Publishing) in hardback on 8th May 2014.
