The Harry Potter books have been around for a long while now, and there are many editions and different covers all over the world. The choice is very varied when it comes to choosing what you want your copies to look like on your shelf, and collectors go mad for all of the different designs!
Both Bloomsbury Publishing and J. K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter Books (for those who have been living under a rock for the past 17 years!) had a hand in the decision making when it came down to who would give Harry his new make-over, and finally it was decided that Jonny Duddle was the man for the job. He is said to be very excited about this new project, but is also very scared at the amount of responsibility that is now in his hands He has also mentioned that he hopes that his illustrations “faithfully reflect the characters and world created by J. K. Rowling”.
The idea behind this re-design of the global phenomenon is to make the books look more child-friendly to attract younger readers, as in recent years the fans have become older children, teens, and adults (although, nobody is complaining about this fact, of course!). Bloomsbury seem to want to take the books back to how they were and what it was like in the very beginning. This will perhaps re-create the feeling that attracted so many people to the books in the first place, with the new design focusing on younger children, their hope, it seems, is to introduce the magic to a new generation.
These particular editions of the series will be released in hardback with re-designed dust-jackets as well as paperback and e-book. All three will be avaliable to purchase on Pottermore’s online store. The release date for these editions of the Harry Potter books by J. K. Rowling will be available on September 1st, 2014.
