Game of Thrones
is heading back to our screens. Fans are in complete furore that we’ll get to enjoy the next season of faux medieval antics. From Arya to Stansa, Cersei to Khaleesi, the characters of Westeros have stories they have to complete. Since George RR Martin tackled the bloody and brutal books, fans have been swarming in covens like dragons around the shore – dissecting exactly who will end up on the Iron Throne. In a series famed for killing favourite characters and taking as many twists and turns, the television show reached a bigger audience that celebrates everything from the actors to the gorgeous sets.

But how do you know you’re a massive Game of Thrones fan?

Jo and Cookie, superhero team extraordinaire grabbed their masks, put on their spandex to embark on an adventure through time and space. Luckily, that adventure was through the pages of comic books. Going as early as medieval times and Bibles (yes, some will argue that they were the first comic books, especially with illustrations) and now to the brilliant saturated comic climate, this is an exhibition Geek’s don’t want to miss out on.

Comics Unmasked: Art and Anarchy in the UK is an exhibition charting the history and development of the graphic novel in society. The boasts the largest display of both mainstream and underground comics and can only be found at The British Library until August 9th

Within the exhibit .the work has been divided by themes; Mischief and Mayhem, To See Ourselves, Politics: Power and the People, Let's talk About Sex, Hero with a Thousand Faces and Breakdowns: The Outer Limits of Comics. Each section displays works that have explored the host theme and in many cases pushed the boundaries of understanding. Here is what the ladies thought of the wonderful exhibition.

Monty Python has conquered many feats in comedy. They have a collection of incredible films that make us titter, a television series of oddball yet intelligent sketches, they have damn catchy songs and they took to the stage for a series of live shows. However, while they may have toe tapped across the wooden footsteps of the stage before, they never really launched into proper theatrical domination until 2004 when Eric Idle (the musical maestro of Monty Python) decided to create Spamalot. And thus, the Lord decreed that there was nothing Monty Python couldn’t do and blessed the world with ten years of Spamalot. And it was good.

A couple of weeks ago, late to the party as always, I stumbled upon a brilliant parody. My mind was blown. It revolved around Doctor Who, straight out the TARDIS, all set to the toe-tapping classic Time Warp. The connection was obviously there but it hadn’t been done before, taking each story of the Tenth Doctor and slicing it up to a classic anthem with monsters, aliens and a little blue box. Witty, hilarious and fun, the great dancing and funky costumes (plus an spot on impression of David Tennant) made me sit up and pay attention to the creators, The Hillywood Show.

Have you ever looked around a space and thought, where the hell is all the art? True, we’ve become such a society that may miss out on beautiful masterpieces as we scroll on our laptops and phones. The saturation of the technologically social means that artists are missing out on constant eyes gazing at masterful brushstrokes. So why not shove art in people’s faces (in the nicest way possible)? That is the aim of the Art Everywhere project and it is back this year bigger and better than before.
