Ah, Tak3n, the romantic story of a blissful couple, if judging by the music. But wait, Famke has to die? Oh, okay, Janssen was pretty shite as Jean Gray, I'll agree with her bloody on-screen death. But, props to the opening romantic music to this new trailer. Bleugh. Why did they update Tak3n to having a 3 in the title? It all feels a bit too cool for school. Am I only one who thought the bad guys from the last film were actually wrapped up pretty well? They got a good deal, why would anyone be back for more?
I'm really excited to see the reboot of Tommy Lee Jones' FBI Agent Samuel Gerard (The Fugitive 1993) in the fantastically talented Forest Whitaker. Sorry? That was my editor on the phone, apparently, they're not related characters?! But I thought Okay, apparently, Whitaker's Franck Dotzler is a standalone character. Nevertheless, I genuinely am always pleased to see Whitaker.
Part of the joy of the original Taken (2008) was Liam Neeson becoming a no-holds barred action superstar. He's made a lot of films in the meantime to cement this reputation and I hope rehashing Brian Mills doesn't make him annoying before his time.
Overall, this is actually a pretty cool trailer considering how shitty a second sequel could potentially be. The romantic opening is good, Forest Whitaker as FBI Agent Samuel Gerard is a great addition and the closing music is actually excellent action music. Taken me by surprise...
