Oh, wait, you want more? Ok well it also has Julianna Moore as Mother Malkin – the ultimate badass witch. It has Prince Caspian himself, Ben Barnes, as the urchin who is all of a sudden thrust into the world of heroism and fantasy. Then there’s Alice Vikander (again) as “could be evil, could be not” love interest (she’s the daughter of the Malkin). Oh and there is also, Djimon Hounsou and Olivia Williams for good measure. In short, the cast makes this look incredible. Not to mention it has a dragon with a phenomenal haircut.
Seventh Son revolves around Tom Ward (no, seriously, that’s his last name), who is the seventh son of a seventh son (apparently,) and is therefore a magical soul sent on a quest of witch-hunting and supernatural adventures. He is, as they all are, trained by bad-ass John Gregory, a mystical warrior who trapped Mother Malkin in a prison and she has vowed revenge. Yelp!
It’s based on a series of children’s books starting with The Spook’s Apprentice (not going to lie but Seventh Son sounds a lot better). But you have to play your cards right with fantasy. If you take it too seriously, you have to have an emotional reason for doing so. If you take it too fun, it could turn into RIPD all over again (and nobody wants that for Bridges.) From this trailer, it looks like there is an element of fun and that kind of fantastical romp executed well looks brilliant.
