It is officially 100 days until Christmas. Shit. I actually know people who have pre-planned so far in advanced that they have all their presents sorted and I am sat here wondering when people are going start caring about Halloween, consuming everything that is laced with pumpkin. So now we’re celebrating 100 days until the festivious period descends upon us with nothing to plug it up and make it stop. Unfortunately, you do know what that means? Even our media will be plagued with months of snow, tinsel and a big round fat man. It also means yet another sequel for their noel themed comedies such as Nativity.
Now when the first one came out, the juxtaposition between the sarcastic and unhappy Martin Freeman with Marc Wootton’s annoyingly gleefully stupid Mr Smiley was good to level up the British comedy. The sequel, however, was rotten despite David Tennant leading the charge. And now another name is taking over the britches of “grumpy Christmas hating man” in Nativity 3; Martin Clunes.
There is no doubt that if anyone could fill that position well it’s Clunes but the unnecessary third instalment of the already worn out franchise is dire. The trailer does nothing but plague, like the seventeen millionth time you’ve heard the jingles of yuletide. All this is a hefty reminder that underneath the Christmas this year, we’re going to get a disappointment of holiday heavy films.
Nativity 3: Dude Where’s My Donkey? (No, that is the title) has no official release date yet.
