The entire premise is akin to that of a post-apocalyptic Fast & Furious style car chase with plenty of explosions, fights and homicidal maniacs thrown in for good measure, and that is a formula that no one could ever want to change.
The international trailer is actually little more than a skinned down version of the second trailer to be released, albeit one with Japanese subtitles (since that’s where it originally aired). But when the action looks this pretty? Who cares!
The film, a prequel to the originals starring Mel Gibson, will feature Tom Hardy as the titular Mad Max as he helps Charlize Theron’s Imperator Furiosa across the desert. All this is set during a time when petrol is scarce and water even more so.
Director George Miller has discussed at great length how practically all the stunts in the trailer (and, presumably, the finished film as well) will be sans CGI and green screen, a rarity in Hollywood nowadays.
Mad Max: Fury Road is looking to be a riotously fun movie that will grip from the first minute to the last. Who can question the beauty of the visuals, the power of the cars or the batshit insanity that many of the characters will inevitably display in spades? Not I, ladies and gentlemen. Not I.
Mad Max: Fury Road is out May 15th in the UK!
