As Horns approaches it’s Halloween release date, this will do nicely for the mainstream public. It doesn’t look too scary, but at least provides the conventions of a decent thrill, considering the glorious occasion. From viewing this trailer you’ll instantly notice that Radcliffe’s American accent is as flawless as DiCaprio’s South African accent in Blood Diamond. Radcliffe is an asset to the British film industry as he proves to be worthy and respected by the Hollywood industry.
In the aftermath of his girlfriend's violent rape and mysterious death, played by the lovely Juno Temple, Ig Perrish, (Radcliffe) awakens to strange horns sprouting from his temples. A striking series of shots are shown with the powers that Radcliffe is given due to his demonic traits. His power drives people to confess their sins and give in to their most self-centred and unspeakable desires. The ironic advantage will grant him his quest to discover the truth of his late girlfriend’s misfortune and give him the much needed revenge on her killer.
The trailer accentuates qualities from Brandon Lee’s The Crow owing to the dead girlfriend inspiring revenge. Nonetheless, the film looks impressive due to Alexandre Aja’s well thought out direction. The constant images of red are there to signify a bloody and hellish atmosphere. Adding on to Radcliffe’s slimy serpent in his midst goes hand in hand for him to metamorphosis into a demon on fire. This may be Radcliffe’s finest work yet, so watch the space.
