He’s already had two train-wrecks this year, with About Last Night and the abysmal Ride Along (which is SOMEHOW getting a sequel), and there could be a third one on the way as he stars in Get Hard (Can’t tell if that’s a euphemism or not. There is a joke about prison rape so it is possible), which looks quite terrible.
James King (Will Ferell) is a billionaire (So not to be confused with the film critic) who is arrested for fraud and is headed to prison in 30 days. He calls on Darnell (Kevin Hart), an engineer, to prep him for life behind bars based on his experiences.
Much like most comedies centred around black people, the film’s humour is based entirely off the stereotypes of black and white people, and it’s so unfunny it hurts. The humour feels very forced (Though I admit to cracking up at the end) and it’s just stuff we’re tired of hearing, with stereotypes that just stopped being funny a while back (If they were even funny to start with). Will Ferell has his fair share of detractors who most likely saw this coming, but to us fans, this is odd for Ferell to fail so horribly. As for Hart, well, his career speaks for itself. Also, the music in the trailer is horrid.
Get Hard is every black/white joke you’ve ever heard, and every black/white joke you stopped laughing at ages ago.
Get Hard is out 27th March
