Going to the cinema to watch a Disney/Pixar film is a fantastic experience. Not only do you get a (usually) amazing film, but 99% of the time, there’s an amazing short attached to the start of it as well. Think The Paperman short before Wreck-It Ralph, for example, a touching and exceptional short just before a touching and exceptional film. Disney delivers well, but can they do it again?
Their next film, Big Hero 6, comes out in November, and honestly, it doesn’t look great. That’s why it needs a fantastic short to precede it. Here we have a special look a Big Hero 6’s short, Feast, which seems to be exactly as the title says. Feast follows a small dog, who discovers just how amazing food is, and this special look is compiled of clips of him eating, ending with him running excitedly with those little green things you get on top of your meal as seasoning (come on, don’t pretend you know what they’re called) in his mouth.
So how does it look? Well, it certainly looks very cute, which will definitely bode well with younger viewers. But think about this: Furry animal discovers passion for food..... Ratatouille, anyone? Fair enough, Ratatouille is mainly about cooking, but you have to admit they are really similar. Is Disney perhaps rehashing ideas in different forms? Maybe not, maybe Feast has a lot more originality to offer than this special look gives us. We’ll just have to see, but if the extreme cuteness has already hooked you, you can check out Feast when Big Hero 6 is released on November 7th.
