Love it or hate it, The Blair Witch Project changed cinema. It was the first movie to properly kick off the found footage genre, it was the first movie to really utilise the internet as a marketing tool and it proved once and for all that you can make serious money at the box office even if you had a microscopic budget to work with.
It was a good film, I like it, and one of the chaps who created it is back with another handheld horror fiasco – Exists – and we’ve got the trailer!
Ignore the initial ‘cabin in the woods’ setting (we’ve seen that a million times) and don’t forget to blot out the two dimensional stereotypical adolescents that are rubbing their noses on the camera lens; pay attention to the atmosphere because this trailer has plenty of it.
These kids come under attack from Bigfoot himself, and this ain’t no copy of the beastie from Harry and the Hendersons, the few glimpses we get suggest a truly horrifying creature that wants to eat pretty young girls on a bap.
As for pushing the boundaries Exists doesn’t really do much and, director aside, there aren’t any big stars attached, but it sure as hell looks super creepy.
