Based on a classic folk tale, the Princess can be seen entering the world in an unconventional way. She appears to be a spunky, independent young girl who knows her own mind, but could this lead to her demise? She’s lost and not living the life she had dreamed of. She needs to do some soul searching and regain that which she has lost.
The artwork is of a simplistic style compared to that of the other Studio Ghibli films and yet, ironically, also complicated and unique in its own way. It keeps the traditional kaleidoscope of colours that are associated with the studio and the unbelievable magic and beauty. The music used in the trailer is calming yet foreshadowing – simply beautiful.
Chloe Grace Moretz voices Princess Kaguya and, based on the trailer, does a heck of a job! She’s a talented actress and keeps showing us what she can do. There are quite a few bigger names that may be recognised included within the film, such as Daniel Dae Kim, Lucy Liu, Darren Criss and James Marsden.
