Calling all Cumberbitches and history enthusiasts: We have a new clip from The Imitation Game. The film tells the story of Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch), an English mathematician and logician who helps crack the Enigma code during World War II.
In this clip, Alan goes for a job interview at Bletchely Park, where he is interviewed by Commander Denniston (Charles Dance). Denniston talks of the struggles other countries have had trying to crack the Enigma code and calling it impossible and Turing, in a very cocky manner, insists that he be given a chance and that he could break it.
Turing never quite got the recognition he deserved in real life, so perhaps this film will educate audiences of the exceptional work he put in for England. Cumberbatch and Dance are only two of the an outstanding British cast, including Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, and Mark Strong. The film looks fantastic, and has received rave reviews from critics, who reckon this could be a serious Oscar contender, with even Benedict himself possibly getting a nomination for Best Actor. Only time will tell, but for now, if you’re interested in World War II, or if you just want a riveting film experience, then The Imitation Game is the one to watch.
The Imitation Game is out 14th November.
