Gandolfini’s death last year is something people still can’t believe even to this day. He was one of the finest actors of his generation and this clip from his last film The Drop showcases why. The first 20 seconds of this clip not only show the sort of person the character of Cousin Marv is like, but also the sort of person James Gandolfini was. He was never the guy waiting for his life to start.
The Drop has a lot of buzz because it’s Gandolfini’s last film, but there is also some buzz around the other actors, one of which is Bane himself, Tom Hardy. Tom shows in this clip that he can hang with some of the best actors around. Hardy goes one on one with Gandolfini and doesn’t even blink an eye. I’m still trying to work out Hardy’s accent in the film, but I think this is just the best clip to show for The Drop. It shows that Tom Hardy can step up to the plate, gives the atmosphere that I know the film has and I can’t think of a better line for the late great James Gandolfini to say.
“Well I’m not the guy who wasted his entire life waiting for it to start.”
