For those of you who have no idea what The Boxtrolls is about, the story follows a group of little
monsters called Boxtrolls (literally trolls in boxes) who live under the town of Cheesebridge. They adopt a
little human boy whom they call Eggs and they quickly accept him as one of their own. Their existence
however, is called into peril when a villainous pest exterminator, Archibald Snatcher, takes it upon
himself to eradicate the monsters once and for all. Eggs, along with the Boxtrolls and some help from a
girl called Winnie, they must race to bring peace to Cheesebridge.
The clip in question focuses a lot of the underground dwelling of the Boxtrolls and setting up the Boxtrolls
themselves. It nicely establishes both their mystical and quirky surroundings, focusing on the carven in
which they live. We get to quickly discover the true nature of the Boxtrolls - they're nothing but
inventors, their carven is filled with various different knick-knacks and inventions. They're just a little
different is all.
The Boxtrolls comes from the same people who made Coraline and Paranorman and stars the likes of
Isaac Hemsptead-Wright, Elle Fanning, Ben Kingsley, Simon Pegg, Richard Ayoade and Nick Frost. If this
clip and it's trailers are anything to go by, it seems The Boxtrolls is set to follow in similar footsteps and
become the alternative children's movie of year.
The Boxtrolls is out in cinemas nationwide on September 12th, with previews on the 6th and 7th of
September.
