There are hoard of unfortunate outsiders who spend most of their lives bullied. Whether they are bullied then find their identity through the songs or their taste in music attracts the mean like a curse, but they are always belittled throughout their lives. Director Adam Egypt Mortimer presents this story and what would happen when someone fights back. But with something utterly supernatural.
Some Kind of Hate revolves around a bullied teen who, through the power of witchcraft, summons the spirit of a girl who was similarly pushed to breaking point by her peers. What follows is a series of murders and horror.
In case you haven’t seen the trailer that has been sleepily bouncing around the interwebs for a while, Some Kind of Hate looks like a heated and hazy slasher film that, with all the found footage horror romps out there, seems to be at least a bit original. With the grungy soundtrack and aesthetic, it could be an amalgamation of those nineties slasher movies with a hint of a modern twist. There also a relatively unknown cast and directorial debut which could give this pubescent horror film an edge.
Warning, though, the trailer alone features graphic images of suicide and self-harm. Perhaps this film won’t be for the faint-hearted.
Some Kind of Hate has no official release yet.
