Directed by Jim Strouse, People Places Things tells the story of Will (Clement), a teacher and graphic novelist whose world is turned upside down when he discovers his wife cheating on him, and a year on, he’s still in a rut. When his student sets him up with her mother (Regina Hall), Will explores the world of being a single father and dating in New York, as well as learning to move on and accept who he is.
In all honesty, the film doesn’t look that great. Jermaine Clement is a great actor and everything, but this trailer just screams “Meh”. Saying that, there’s a lot of sweetness and a lot of sentimentality to it, so hopefully those factors will make the film worthwhile.
People Place Things doesn’t have a UK release yet, but it played in the USA earlier this year to positive reviews.
