A lot of films at the moment seem to being taking on the rogue name, whether it’s Star Wars: Rogue One or The Rogue Table(I had to get that in there). The latest film to show some rogue love is the fifth installment in the Mission Impossible franchise. Rogue Nation shows the IMF taking on The Syndicate, a rebel team or “Rogue Nation”. After Ghost Protocol helped to breathe new life into the MI franchise, there’s a lot of pressure for Rogue Nation to live up to the hype and surpass the last film. From this first full trailer, it’s safe to say the Mission Impossible franchise is still alive and kicking.
This trailer has everything you expect from a MI film, action, explosions, improbable moments, half naked women, comedy and Tom Cruise trying not to show his age. But this trailer does have very clever editing embedded into it especially with the music. A vocal version of The Fugees’ Ready Or Not, works great in building the suspense and action and the secrecy around The Syndicate and of course it just wouldn’t be a MI film without the famed music.
This trailer for Rogue Nation shows the great potential for Mission Impossible as a franchise as it continues to grow into something bigger. Overall I like the trailer, it has something for everyone but whether the film will stand out on the whole come the end of the year is unknown.
Will Rogue Nation launch the franchise even higher or is time running out for Mission Impossible?
