Director David Ayer starts by saying “In World War II, you fought until either won or died”, followed by Jon Bernthal who says “This is a very, very narrow, honest look at this one tank unit’s life”. “Fury has a very authentic look” according to producer John Lesher, with production designer Andrew Menzies claiming that “This movie is about reproducing history, every look in the film is derived from historic research”. Alessandro Bertolazzi, from hair and makeup design, describes making the soldiers looking authentic “Every single soldier looks like a piece of art, to recreate the makeup is complicated. It’s not just mud and dirt, it’s blood from his friends”. Maja Mechede, costume designer, said “In order to create authentic wardrobe, we went to Berlin to find costumes made in the 1940s”.
That’s just a taste of the interesting information detailed in this featurette, with even more waiting to be heard. Fury is looking to be one of the best films of the year, and is out 17th October.
