And just ahead of the big release of Fast & Furious 7, we've got three new featurettes taking us behind the scenes of, let's be honest, the most anticipated film in the series. Now, isn't that kind of an odd thing to consider?
In the first trailer, we get the cast talking about what they feel has allowed the Fast & Furious saga (Diesel's words) to flourish when it may have fallen. The emphasis on speed, action and pushing the envelope all count, but that there is an even greater emphasis on the emotional centre of the characters is what they think gives it the edge. Fair enough, it may actually be lunk-headed hokum, but it's not an unreasonable thing to acknowledge. Family really has been an important part of this franchise and the stories they've told.

The second featurette moves away from such sincerity and focuses on something else entirely. Here, the focus is on Abu Dhabi, the city that plays host to some of the film's most incredible scenery and batshit crazy stunts.
I will be honest, though, and say that this all amounts to a tourist ad for Abu Dhabi, and this featurette probably exists to fulfil some contractual obligation to highlight the city itself as a place for tourism and business prospects. |
The third video, much like the last one, has the air of an advert dressed up as a behind the scenes tour. In this case, the ad is for the Lykan, the new hypercar to feature in Fast & Furious 7 and one of the most expensive cars in the world (want one? It'll cost you $3.4million).
It's a fine looking automobile, that's for damn sure, and having it here really just underlines how far this series has come. And how willing they are to trash such expensive toys. |
