To be fair to the team though, the Fantastic Four cast has now responded to critics, with Michael B Jordan writing a letter to those who doubt him. And though writer-producer Simon Kinberg also confirmed that the movie required 3-4 days of extra filming, he also stated that it was just part of the post-production process. With these issues aside, hopefully we can all look forward to a fresh approach to Marvels’ oldest superhero team.
I’m looking forward to the Fantastic Four, and this trailer has made me positively excited. With a focus on the strength of the team, and a hint at the implications of interdimensional travel to the plot, this is certainly looking like a strongly directed film. Director Josh Trank created one of the freshest original superhero movies with Chronicle, and Michael B Jordans’ part in that film gives faith in his ability to play Marvels’ high-school poster boy in Fantastic Four. Hopefully the fresh take, confident aesthetic and strong direction will give us an impressive flick that will stand out from all the other superhero films that have tumbled from their pedestals of hype recently.
Fantastic Four is out 4th August
