At the start of the trailer the film has the vibes of a family comedy. Then suddenly Kevin Bacon appears and the whole vibe changes into “is somebody going to get killed?” Plaster a moustache on his face and you have the makings of a probable serial killer.
Two innocent and curious boys come across a cop car in the middle of a field. Of course, their first instinct is to get in it and drive. (However, it is quite strange how to young boys can come across a car and learn how to drive it in minutes when it took me at least ten hours of lessons just to get round a roundabout.) Then comes along Kevin Bacon aka Sheriff Kretzer, whom is hiding a secret in the back of the mysterious cop car. Finding out via radio that two kids had taken his car for a joyride, he decides to go after them, in a far more menacing way than you would expect any cop to.
The trailer couples tense music with quick shots that build up the atmosphere and the panic as we watch the two boys become entangled in something far bigger than them.
With a strong cast and a great plot, Cop Car seems to be a good film to watch. It’s due in US cinemas on the 7th of August.
