The film follows Jude whose father Les picks him up from Vermont and takes him on a journey to New York. Set on the backdrop of the 1980s, including the Tompkins Square Park Riots, Jude is taken on a journey through his screwed up life and the equally messed up world of those around him. Venturing into the underground sound of the era, Jude must find himself and where he belongs.
The biggest possibly element here is the music. But with indie films now feeling like one massive vinyl collection or an epically long music video, can 10,000 Saints shout louder? Who knows - but the promising thing here is the cast as Hailee Steinfeld, Asa Butterfield and the aforementioned Hawke playing significant and vital roles.
10,000 Saints is out in the USA in August. No word of a UK release yet.
