What We’ve been doing
Will has been watching Kim play GTA V and is going to start watching Breaking Bad. He also watched Psycho for the first time recently.
Sarah has been watching films and is planning on starting American Horror Story. She also tells us why rebooting characters from classic films in a modern setting doesn’t work. She has some very good points.
Graham has been playing GTA V and watching Arrested Development on Netflix.
GTA V has made over 1 billion dollars in the first three days of going on sale, we keep it nice and short so we can talk about it more next time.
Warner Bros have announced that a new film within the Harry Potter universe is in the works, based on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, it will be set in the 1920’s, and focus on author Newt Scamander as he researches magical creatures.
Benedict Cumberbatch is rumoured to be a new villain for the new Star Wars Trilogy. Insert your own Khan joke here.
The Doctor Who 50th anniversary has been given a name “The Day of the Doctor”. We talk about what may happen and who might turn up for the show.
Marvel have announced that they will be doing a TV series based around Agent Peggy Carter from Captain America. It will follow what happened to her after Captain America was frozen in the ice.
We discuss Dirty Harry, and pick our new film. The Citizen Kane of films… Citizen Kane.
Because Matt wasn’t around, we’ll never find out where his quote came from. Instead, tease your brain with the following.
“This job would be great, if it wasn’t for the fucking customers.”
During the Six Degrees segment, Will and I find out whether or not we’ve lost any points from our Elevator Pitch after deciding to gamble in the previous show. Will is unable to find a link, though he managed to almost do it, we decided we’d let him find it for next time. Until then, he’s had a point docked. I managed to find a direct link between my actors, which led to a decision to remove a point from the person who had set me the challenge (Matt). This means the scores for the Elevator Pitch now look more like this;
Will: 13 (14)
Sarah: Sean Connery - David Cross
Graham: Jane Levy - Alan Davies
Will: Benedict Cumberbatch - Christoph Waltz
Matt: Tina Fey - Nicholas Lyndhurst
And don’t forget, you too can play along at home. Simply find the link between David Tenant and Kevin Costner, and you can gain kudos to brag about in front of your friends. Simply leave the answer in the comments, or IWGCast@imwithgeek.com. We’ll read out your name if you get it right on the next podcast.
And there we have it for another fortnight. Let us know what you think about anything we’ve talked about in the comments or at IWGCast@imwithgeek.com, we guarantee you won’t regret it.
See you next time.
