It’s the beginning of September, and with it sees the start of a new glut of televisual goodness.

Because you’re all busy, people and don’t necessarily have time to research all that you watch to see whether it’s worth your valuable commodity, we here at I’m With Geek have set ourselves the lofty goal of getting the reviews you so desperately need within twenty four hours of the episode airing!

This means that you can watch Constantine on the can, The Big Bang Theory in your bedroom and Game of Thrones in your garden all whilst avoiding spoilers where possible.

We’re really looking forward to bringing you the best possible service for your viewing pleasure, so please let us know what you think in our comments; we want to ear from you to help make our site the best it can be!

So, until next time, keep circulating those tapes!

Brace yourself, Geeks, we have exciting news; we’re heading to London Film and Comic Con!

That’s right folks, thanks to a lovingly warm reception from the fans hoarded into the halls of the Excel Centre for MCM, we’re feeling very inspired to go to another brilliant event! London Film and Comic Con is a wonderful weekend with a collection of large geek culture figureheads in one room and companies with all sorts of passion. With thousands flocking to the doors of Earl’s Court, the likes of Paul McGann, Summer Glau, Sean Maher and Jamie Bamber will appease fans with their fans and us. Yes, here at I’m With Geek we are just as excited to be breathing the same air as George A Romero. I know our zombie experts will be just as thrilled as anything to get their hands on the Godfather of those shuffling creeps.

But there's more! Not only will we be visiting LFCC, but we'll have our own stall, where we'll be selling some amazing personalised products. Here's a teaser image of what we've got to offer, but be sure to check out our Facebook page for more!

However, the biggest thing we are stoked about is getting to put face to our fans and reach out to people who adore the passionate culture we get excited about too. If you are heading to Earl’s Court in July, make sure you come and find the I’m With Geek table. Not only are we going to provide you with goodness, but be sure we are going to go insane over your cosplays, your thoughts and debate each and every televisions series out there.

Plus, to be in the same room as Stan Lee?

That would be MARVEL-ous!

Catch us on 11th to 13th of July!

The Power of Creativity

Creativity is important. Without creativity, the world would come to an end, fairly quickly. It's the ability to think, to dream up new ideas and constantly strive to make something new, something better, that sets us aside from other animals. Sure, dreams can come at a price if you're not careful; it doesn't do to dwell on a dream so much that you don't actually do anything to achieve it, but we'd be far worse off if we didn't dream up new ideas.

I'm With Geek exist with the specific purpose of promoting creativity. Whether it's helping new, inexperienced journalists to get their work published, working closely with independent film-makers to help promote their hard work, or reviewing and critiquing the latest Hollywood blockbusters, we're all about showing off people's dreams.

We'd like to welcome everyone out there who has a story to share or skill to show off... We want to work with you. We want to help promote your work. We want to share your dreams with the world...

Christ, that sounds corny!

Sorry,
Will

Why I love my life

One of my favourite things is messing around with audio.

It’s one of the reasons I love our podcast so much. I get to set everything up, record it, and then spend a week editing everything until it sparkles (in an audial sense) and then posting it here to go out into the world.

As time goes on, we hope to expand our repertoire and include other podcasts to give you a grander view of the “I’m With Geek universe”.

But this is impossible without you. So keep listening, keep commenting and sharing with your friends! We’ve got big plans for the podcast, and it would be a shame to have you miss out on the competitions, games and inevitable presenter forfeits that you’ll be setting up.

We have a blast doing the podcast, and we don’t want to see that disappear any time soon. After all, where would you get your ideas for an elevator pitch from if you didn’t have us?

It’s Sherlock Week at I’m With Geek!

Whether it is the Robert Downey Jr version or the love of a mouse, I don’t think I have come across a soul who hates Sherlock Holmes. The character is an iconic and cultural heritage that has luckily been passed to us by Arthur Conan Doyle. A writer who in 1887 created the super sleuth detective alongside his plucky companion John Watson. The character originally appeared in 4 novels and 56 short stories. Since that has expanded to countless re-imaginings in books, radio shows, theatre shows, television and film. He is the single most adapted character of all time with over 1100 versions of him. Wow.

On a personal level, I love Sherlock and all things Holmes. I have obviously encountered Sherlock before. But it was BBC’s Sherlock that truly snapped me up into the fandom. The incredible writing power of Mark Gatiss, Stephen Thompson and yes, Moffat. The special effects and visual wizardry. The acting is of a different calibre thanks to the dynamics of Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch (as well as a whole host) It is the first and only television show that I have obsessed over to this level. So much so that every trip to London must have a walk past Speedy’s, the theme song is my ringtone and hell, in my picture I am wearing the “death frizebee.” The thing that gets me about, not only, this adaptation but most of them, is the passion.

There is true passion for Holmes. There is love of the story and definite love of the character. Just ask the ladies behind Baker Street Babes or the countless of cosplayers out there who have connected with a character so wholeheartedly. The dedication of the fans, the tiniest detail and the emotion all allows the Holmes fandom to expand. We love Sherlock Holmes in every capacity and re-imagining. It doesn’t take Sherlock Holmes to deduce that.

Happy first birthday I'm With Geek!

Today marks the 1st anniversary of I'm With Geek, and what an incredible year it's been! I started I'm With Geek as a place to share the hard work of new, talented writers looking for a voice. I wanted to help people develop their skills and find a place in the industry. We're not quite there yet, but I'm pretty sure we've already helped a number of new writers find their voice, and for that I'm already proud.

At the risk of sounding like a sentimental fool, there are some thanks that need to be shared.

Firstly, thank you to everybody who has contributed to I'm With Geek over the last year, whether you've written a single article or contribute daily, you've played a massive part in building our readership and helping us grow as an online presence.

Secondly, to the section editors, past and present, who have worked tirelessly to ensure their sections are producing the best content they can. Without you, we'd be a lot worse off.

Thank you to Sarah Cook, Graham Osborne and Kim J Osborne, without whom I can honestly say, we just wouldn't be here at all today! Your hard work, dedication and generally incredible support has built I'm With Geek and will continue to do so for years to come. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

And finally, the readers! You've taken the time to read our work, share it with your friends and shared your own opinions. A website is only as good as it's readers, and we have an amazing, growing readership. I'm With Geek is for you, and we love you for it!

So, here's to one great year and to many, many more!

Thank you so much!
