That’s ok, because showrunner Bryan Fuller is delivering us another tasty meal of Hannibal goodness for us to sink our teeth into. The television horror is back for a second series that promises to be more tantalising, more twisted and definitely more delicious than before.
The thought of a television based solely around the murderous serial killer Dr Hannibal Lecter seemed utterly redundant. After all, his story had reached its peak, then teetered off down a large cliff with the terrible Hannibal Rising. The idea of a television show that centred on his uprising to infamy as indeed a bit of a risk. Especially focusing on the interaction between him and FBI Special Investigator Will Graham, a relationship that was already highly famous in the world of Lecter and had already been done twice.
But Fuller has gone into the television show with the eyes of an artist, the brain of a writer and the heart of a fan (which I am sure will all feature on the next Lecter dinner party.) Adapting it at a level where it is altered for freshness and juiciness but still with smatterings of the old familiar. Two new teaser trailers have circled the internet in the past weekend promise to give us more. Appealing yet again to the extensive fanbase, the crew over at Hannibal has given only slight snippets of what we can expect from series two; especially now that Graham has been locked away and finally knows that Hannibal is indeed the psychopathic cannibal they've been after. The question is, will the others find out before it is too late?
These are just a tastes, aperitifs if you will, but it is scintillating as it gets. Set to the utterly haunting version of "Stand By Me," our characters are trying to piece together all they have learnt from Season One before their killer finally serves them up as an entrée. All the while the audience will be screaming, "it's him. He is eating people." Edge of the seat and captivating already, this game of pawns is just set to boil.
Find out what Lecter is cooking up February 28th (U.S Air Date.)
Until then, check out the new trailer and teasers.
