What’s better than one Sarah Pouley? Well, two of course! And that is exactly what we are getting in the brand new American Horror Story: Freak Show. Ryan Murphy’s concoctions of disconcerting, supernatural and terrible characters have delighted fans, developing a following as if The Walking Dead had met Glee. For those out of the loop The previous efforts have included Murder House, a tale of death and ghosts; Asylum, a tale of mental illness and abuse and Coven. The last entry had scooped a large amount of audiences in due to its spellbinding, female centric tale of young witches honing in their craft. It even scooped AHS favourite Jessica Lange an Emmy this year and delighted many with the twists in the tale as well as the horror it portrayed. And now, with Freak Show, Murphy seems to be masterfully crafting vicious illusions and stunning perversions.
Centred on the sideshow attractions of a circus, Murphy unites his stellar cast again including the previously mentioned ladies, fan favourite Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates and hopefully many more familiar faces. This season will see spectacles beyond the human imagination. Freak Show centres on the titular “freaks” who are battling against forces, evil and human. There is a clown killer as a well as a mysterious bearded lady. It’s certainly one circus that you wouldn’t want to go too, even if they had candy floss.
And to those who are deftly afraid of clowns? I wouldn’t watch it. Or check out these images.
