The only way is up for The Following right now as each episode is better than the last. This week was the best it’s been so far, and there’s still ten episodes left, so hopefully there’s a lot more in store.

Ryan is at the point of desperation in his hunt for Joe; he nearly strangles Gisele to death just to get information. His passion for killing Joe knows no bounds, and there’s nothing he won’t do to get to him. Whilst they make a good team, Ryan is far too spontaneous and determined for Max. She’s conserved, and quiet, and only fights when needed. For Ryan, violence is number one on his list. The worst part is that this isn’t a good contrast, but rather a messy one, making the partnering far uneven, especially when you remember Ryan isn’t exactly a team player.
This episode we got perhaps one of the best scenes since the show started, as Ryan engages in a fire fight with Luke inside an abandoned, after killing one of his French brothers. For the past few episodes the show has been picking up the action and this one was full of it. It didn’t stop there; Ryan found the house of Joe’s friend, who sorted him out last week, and ended up fighting Gisele once again, though this time, she finally ended up dead. She wasn’t the most interesting of characters and as to be expected, characters will start dropping like flies. Now it’s just a matter of working out who’s expendable. Things are heating up, and Ryan’s gonna need a bit more than just wit to get out of this one

Meanwhile, his brother Mark is looking to seduce Emma, who’s still hurting after Joe’s betrayal. That’s where we find out Mark’s weakness; he doesn’t like his face being touched. Emma touches it while kissing him and freaks out. And whilst he’s not getting lucky, Lily has found her way around Joe. Joe proves us wrong once again, as he shaves his beard and refuses to kill Lily’s prisoner.
The Following is in a great place right now and it’s only five episodes. Let’s hope it keeps the pace for the remainder.
