So, the People’s Choice Awards 2014 has been and gone and what a spectacular event it was. There were some brilliant celebrities there but sadly, not everyone who deserved an award received one. Instead of going through the entire list of winners, I will mention only those who are in shows that this writer (points to herself - Ed.) covers on a weekly basis: The Vampire Diaries and The Originals.
So, the People’s Choice Awards 2014 has been and gone and what a spectacular event it was. There were some brilliant celebrities there but sadly, not everyone who deserved an award received one. Instead of going through the entire list of winners, I will mention only those who are in shows that this writer (points to herself - Ed.) covers on a weekly basis: The Vampire Diaries and The Originals.
The Vampire Diaries usually wins the majority of the awards, so it is quite disappointing that they only walked away with two this year, and one for The Originals. This is probably partly due to the shows splitting as The Original family (and Ian Somerhalder) tends to win most of the awards.
Ian Somerhalder and Joseph Morgan both have extensive fan bases, with fans that will do anything to see them win awards. It would be frightening to see how some of these viewers would react if they lost. So, the nominations for The Vampire Diaries and The Originals this year with the bold titles being the winners were:

Nina Dobrev deserved to win the Sci-Fi / Fantasy TV Actress award after her performance as not one, not two, but three different characters, in the same show! In the same scene! Her acting has improved massively in season five and she deserves some recognition. The Damon and Elena On-Screen Chemistry is questionable after Elena’s lack of a mental break down after Damon ‘let her go.’ She could have cared more. Also, what about Paul Wesley? His portrayal of Stefan with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, amnesiac Stefan and Silas was priceless! Along with Nina, this was some of the best acting on the show. Not to discredit Ian’s acting ability, because he is a talented actor, but he hasn’t shown any growth compared to the other actors on the shows. Ian only won because his gorgeous blue eyes are absolutely captivating and distracting, they're like an ocean. At suns- … Sorry, what was I saying?
Still, three out of five awards is good going so congratulations to the actors and their respective shows for a job well done! They weren’t nominated for as many awards as usual but there have been a lot of new, high quality shows this year. This is a positive thing though as it means that all shows will have to compete and therefore create better television each week. Better luck next time, folks!
