“Sometime having a code is all we have.”
This week our patience with the Emma/Snow White/Charming family drama was rewarded with an exciting tale of thieves, wicked witches and Oz. What’s more we got a bit more of Will Scarlett/The Knave of Hearts (finally) and gained a few more pieces of the puzzle surrounding the Author and the time gap since we bid farewell to our Arendelle friends.
Now from this point, this review holds many SPOILERS. It is your choice dear reader whether you continue or not, however I need to spill the magic beans to whoever will listen/read because it was a helluvan episode after a season of rambling story lines.
The main words you need to know are Robin Hood, Marion, NYC, OZ, Yellow Brick Road and The Wicked Witch of the West aka Zelena.
Oh, and the biggest shock to date: ZELENA = MARION. IMPOSTER!
BUT NO! It is Zelina is ruining everyone’s lives once again as Marion (having killed Marion in the past when Hook and Emma went realm-hopping in Season Three). She is back creepily trying to seduce Rumplestitskin, then Robin Hood, and bullying Regina. Does she have an obsession for those named ‘R-’? Poor adorable little Roland is caught right in the middle of it. And poor Regina who remains heartbroken and horrified in Storybrooke upon learning the truth. I am in shock, evidenced by the use of capital letters and an abundance of ‘ands’…
On the bright side we can all now unleash a hatred for the Marion Imposter, who no longer has ANY remaining qualities of note. Throw your glares and grrs at her – and if you have a house going spare, drop in on her would you?
In other news, we witnessed the blossoming friendship of Robin Hood and Will Scarlett, Robin Hood’s failed tavern and Rumplestiltskin having a heart attack. This episode had quite a range of tales and demonstrated some of ONCE’s fantastic skill in turning stories on their heads and reshuffling the pack of fairytale cards. It was much needed after some lacklustre episodes and promises excitement as the show gathers speed in view of the finale.
