After the latest episode from Gotham, which in all fairness did pick up the pace seemed to be a run up for this weeks. Entitled Everyone has a Cobblepot and just as the title states, everyone has something or someone like our good friend Cobblepot to hide. Of course, we already know that everyone in Gotham has their own secret, except we don’t know how deep some of them go.
Throughout the series we have seen Gordon’s character evolve and this could arguably be the lowest point for him yet. Although still trying to do the right thing, Gotham’s underdogs won’t allow him to play by the book. Spurring him on this episode is the return of detective Flass. Naturally after fighting to get this guy exposed, Gordon is livid and won’t rest until this man is brought to justice. Without a doubt Gordon’s and Bruce’s plotlines are the most engaging. Perhaps this is only because we know where the story of Batman leads, except one cannot deny the talent illustrated here. Arguably not given enough screen time, young David Mazouz is quickly becoming the ruthless, yet fair Bruce Wayne. Mazouz brings a great balance of the spoilt rich kid and the determined detective to his Bruce. However, the episode has someone’s name in it which we simply can’t ignore.
Gotham seems to be taking a step in the right direction, albeit the writers need to keep on it. The problem is and has always been character development. Now we have some our only fear is it being taken away and replaced with overly episodic plotlines of Gordon and Bullock chasing the bad guys. With only fpur more episodes to go until the season finale let’s hope this pulls through.
