It’s official; Doctor Who’s 2013 Christmas special will have pairs of hearts breaking up and down the country as Matt Smith finally admits he’s stepping down as the ancient time-traveller.
“I’ve had the best three-years of my life at Doctor Who. It’s been brilliant but i feel it’s time for me to move on,” 30 year-old Smith enthuses. He’s also quick to quash rumors that a rift with new companion Jenna-Louise Coleman forced him out of the TARDIS; “Jenna’s been fantastic - I’ve absolutely loved working with her,” he beams, “I’ve been approached for several other projects and want to bow out while I’m still enjoying it.”

He’s not kidding about other project piling up. Post Doctor Who, Matt Smith appears to be heading to Hollywood. His first major film ‘How to Catch a Monster’ (which also stars Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendez) hits cinemas next year.
Meanwhile attention has drifted onto discovering the identity of the new Doctor. With huge shoes to fill, the list is huge and recently the BBC have officially confirmed that the Twelfth Doctor will be played, in a somewhat bizarre casting twist, by none other than baby-faced Justin Bieber!
Sources close to showrunner Steven Moffat say that the head honcho had been impressed with the Never Say Never singer after catching sight of him during a guest appearance on CSI.

“He’s incredible!” says Moffat, he wastes not time in saying - as he did with Smith - that he had intended to cast an older actor but found young Justin enthralling; “he has this aged, wisen quality about him he can draw up. It’s like he has the soul of a much older man, there’s also a lot of vulnerability to him. Justin will make a very dynamic and intriguing Doctor.”
The strain of keeping his casting a secret from his hoard of fans has taken it toll on the young Baby singer, with the pressure causing him to miss concerts and collapse with what his supporters are calling ‘minor panic attacks’ but hopefully, now that the secrets out of the bag, the singer will be back to his old self.
There’s also no word on what the Twelfth Doctor will look like but rumors are high that Bieber’s recent gas-mask sightings could be a reference to the character or an upcoming storyline in the stars first season, which kicks off in 2014.
