In this week’s episode of Doctor Who, we landed in the ‘mythical’ tale of Robin Hood. Taken at the request of Clara, who has loved the tale of Robin Hood since she was a child, the Doctor remains adamant that he is not real, even after meeting him in 1160 (or thereabouts).
Over the last two episodes we have seen the 12th Doctor’s personality develop, and this week not only does his sense of humour increase, but we also see his superiority complex, which leads with him to argue with Robin Hood on numerous occasions to make himself seem like the better person. After seeing how unsure he was of his goodness last week, and his need to reassure himself of his strength and leadership this week, the Doctor is presenting himself to be strong on the outside with an internal struggle over his self-worth and attempts to build his self esteem through arguments and clever quips. Yes, this week’s episode had plenty of funny moments, many of them were underscored by his need to be the bigger person.
