Tonight's Doctor Who episode see's the return of fan favourite Vastra, Jenny and Strax. "There’s something very odd about Mrs Gillyflower’s Sweetville mill, with its perfectly clean streets and beautiful people. There’s something even stranger about the bodies washing up in the river, all bright red and waxy. When the Doctor and Clara go missing, it’s up to Vastra, Jenny and Strax to rescue them before they too fall victim to the Crimson Horror!"  By William John
Oh this weeks episode of Doctor Who, a salvage crew takes control of the TARDIS and we're treated to more of the Doctor's marvellous machine that we've ever seen before. "A spaceship salvage team drags the TARDIS on board, sending its systems into meltdown. As the Doctor marshals the motley salvage crew outside, he realises Clara is still trapped within his malfunctioning ship, pursued by a dangerous group of ossified monsters. He has just 30 minutes to find Clara and save his TARDIS before it self-destructs.”  By William John
Doctor Who returns this week with a classic ghost story entitled Hide. "Clara and the Doctor arrive at Caliburn House, a haunted mansion sat alone on a desolate moor. Within its walls, a ghost hunting Professor and a gifted psychic are searching for the Witch of the Well. Her apparition appears throughout the history of the building, but is she really a ghost? And what is chasing her?"  By William John
This week's Doctor Who episode features the long awaited return of some classic villains, the Ice Warriors! "The Doctor and Clara land on a damaged Russian Submarine in 1983 as it spirals out of control into the ocean depths. An alien creature is loose on board, having escaped from a block of Arctic ice. With tempers flaring and a cargo of nuclear weapons on board, it’s not just the crew but the whole of humanity at stake!"  By William John
The Doctor and Clara return again this week as Clara gets to see her first Alien planet! "Clara wants to see something awesome, so the Doctor whisks her off to the inhabited rings of the planet Akhaten, where the Festival of Offerings is in full swing. Clara meets the young Queen of Years as the pilgrims and natives ready for the ceremony. But something is stirring in the pyramid, and a sacrifice will be demanded."  By William John
Like every other Whovian, I watched David Tennent explode in a ball of firey stuff on New Years Day, 2010 through tear stained eyes. The energy cleared and a young man with a large chin and a mop of hair emerged. We watched, silent, unsure of what to think as he examined his new body, checking to see if he had legs, eyes and ears, before musing over whether he’d become a girl. Still unsure, we watched as the apparent new Doctor suddenly remembered he was crashing down to Earth in a burning TARDIS… and then the Doctor really emerged. He threw himself around the console, laughing with excitement at the prospect of impending doom, shrugging off the woes from his previous life. Then something strange happened… I began to laugh with him. Uncontrollably. From tears to elation in couple of minutes, Matt Smith had me from the word ‘Geronimo’!  By William John
Big news, people! The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine, out next week, CONFIRMS that the 10th Doctor (David Tennant) and Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) WILL be appearing in the shows 50th Anniversary episode! They'll be appearing alongside cinema royalty John Hurt (Hellboy, Alien). The special will be feature-length and receive a limited worldwide cinema release in 3D!  By William John
Earlier today, Christian Kern brought you his top 3 Sylverster McCoy episodes and explained how great the 7th Doctor was, but how would he have fared in the show today? Well, if this video of McCoy delivering Matt Smith's famous speech from The Pandorica Opens is anything to go by, McCoy's Doctor could've gone on forever! By William John Brash, loud (both vocally and visually), with a heart full of gold, Colin Baker’s tenure as the Doctor was short lived but loved by many. A far darker character than most of his predecessors, the 6th Doctor began his reign by trying to kill his companion (the woman he’d just sacrificed his previous life to save) and imposing exile upon himself for his actions. Craziness aside (mostly), the Doctor went on to save the Earth from the Cybermen, avert an intergalactic war, came face to face with his second incarnation and be put on trial by his own people… again. These are my personal top 3 6th Doctor adventures. “I shall beat it into submission... with my charm.” |
