The Mid-Season Finale was always going to end with Dean surrounded by a pile of bodies. What’s surprising is how little the episode focused on Dean in the run up to this, and how much time was spent laying the groundwork for when the show picks up again in January. Previous Mid-Season Finales have gone out with a bang; The Things We Left Behind popped quietly.

Previous Mid-Season Finales have gone out with a bang; The Things We Left Behind popped quietly. With Christmas just around the corner, it’s time to avoid those cold, dark evenings by snuggling down on the sofa to watch your favourite Blu-ray or DVD box set. To get you in the festive mood and help solve your dilemma over which series to watch this Christmas, it’s time to take our quiz to find out which HBO show YOU should be a part of! by Robbie Jones It’s been an agonising two week wait since the terrifying cliff-hanger of episode nine, and did it pay off? Abso-fucking-lutely! by Julia Lawson Curses. Raising all sorts of magical drama in little towns filled with fairytale characters relating to personal relationships, heart ripping and ominous weather formations since ONCE’s debut four seasons ago. After yet another curse related build up we find ourselves stuck in a bit of rut: no Frozen themed wedding, no Rumplestiltskin led revolution and no abundance of ice queen sundaes for everyone. But there is always more to ONCE than ice cream. by Helen Langdon OK, so last week’s Atlantis wasn’t exactly the most exciting or unpredictable, but it did help to move the story along. Ariadne chose her city over her heart (girl’s gonna make a great queen) and agreed to Telemon’s proposal, believing that he was a prince who’d make a great ally. But charming men with beards who want to marry princesses always turn out to be treacherous murderers, don’t they? by Graham Osborne Things are getting tense in the Constantine camp. The viewing figures aren’t up to scratch according to NBC (I have no idea if they’re including the Amazon Instant Views, since I’m probably boosting them by a few hundred points with that!) but the rumours are flying around about whether or not the series will be cancelled before they finish airing the remaining six episodes of this series. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, that Angélica Celaya is contracted for at least fifteen episodes (two more than this season) and Daniel Cerone (the showrunner) has stated similar. It’s not the most positive news for the show… But there’s still hope! Everyone watch this fantastic show and keep it alive! by Cookie N Screen I have no idea what is happening with television shows at the moment. Because it feels like we’ve all hit this end of year slump. It could be that the audience, such as myself, are just so bored with generally vapid storylines being dragged over several episodes as we look towards Christmas and the added stress that comes with that. It could be that writers are over abundant with ideas and lack the attention span to follow them through, ending them because no one really gives a shit about exploring them without much depths. With American Horror Story, they’d rather provoke with “freakish” characters than actually go into intense examination. Blood Bath could be amazing but it’s more like a watery grave for the show. by Hayley Charlesworth The darkness in Inspector Reid’s soul continues to grow, as the search for his daughter leads to dark and harrowing circumstances. In a show that thrives on complexity and tension, Your Father, My Friend is a masterclass in the slow build resulting in a shocking cliffhanger that has been the trademark of this series so far. by Catherine Wignall The ladies of Supernatural are usually one of two things: sexy and in need of saving or sexy and about to be dead. There are always exceptions to the rule, but it’s been pretty consistent over the show’s ten-year run, and subsequently Supernatural’s treatment of women has long been a point of contention. by Julia Lawson Well that was intense! The penultimate episode to the Frozen story arc began to draw in all the loose ends, reuniting Anna and Elsa, seeing Rumplestiltskin return to his manipulative ways, and learning that pirates are better than wizards as the spell of shattered sight curse clouds move towards the town. Oh and we got a sneak preview into Frozen 2… sort of. |
