Oh look, another Jason Statham action-fart only this time out goes Sylvester Stallone and in comes, err, Stanley Tucci.
The chiselled Londoner plays Nick Wild in Wild Card; he’s a mob enforcer with a penchant for violence and a gambling problem to match. A bigger problem presents itself though when he kicks the ass of his former boss, and his former boss doesn’t exactly smell of roses if you catch my drift.
The trailer we have for you here does a good job of dropping you into the seedy criminal underbelly of Las Vegas and shows how our hero has to borrow a particular set of skills from Liam Neeson in order to get the hell out of town with his skin intact. It’s fast, frenetic and occasionally funny fare, as it so often is with Statham’s movies.
Oscar winner William Goldman has penned the screenplay and in doing so brings some Hollywood gold hefty to proceedings, a rarity for any film where Statham is the main man. The jury is out on director Simon West though; I’m not his biggest fan but this is the third time both he and the leading man have worked together. Could the third time the charm?
