There has been a major buzz surrounding the Australian horror since it premièred at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. And now thanks to IFC Midnight, it is being released. We have exhibited a teaser trailer and a brief clip from The Babadook before now, but below is the first full-length trailer.
Played by Essie Davis, the film follows a woman named Amelia whose husband died six years earlier. Since this tragedy, Amelia has been having a hard time controlling the behavior of her son, Samuel. Portrayed by Noah Wiseman, Samuel dreams of an evil and terrifying monster that he believes are coming to kill him and his mother.
Things take a turn for the worse when a storybook called The Babadook turns up on their doorstep. As his mother reads him the story before bed, Samuel is convinced that the creature in the tale is the one from his dreams. As the young boy becomes more distraught, Amelia begins to also feel a presence in their house.
