Literally days before we abscond to mince pies and merriment, the people at Lionsgate UK have dropped a gloriously silly trailer from the spy comedy movie somewhat whets our appetite. Anyone looking forward to seeing Johnny Depp romp around with Paul Bettany in a side car plus lots of posh people and ridiculousness can enjoy another Christmas present with this latest trailer from the art connoisseur of the titular fame.
Mortdecai revolves around Charlie Mortdecai, an art dealer who is roped in by the Mi5 to retrieve a painting of high value. However, despite being lavish and seemingly rich, he is actually broke. He and his manservant concoct an idea to take the painting themselves which occurs much scorn from Russians, the Government and more importantly, his wife.
Despite being voiced by the wonderful Stephen Fry, this trailer is less funny than the other snippets that they have already given us. It could genuinely be good but as a lot of things Johnny Depp has been in recently have falling through the cracks; we’ll keep our breath bated (underneath our moustaches, of course.)
Mortdecai is out January 23rd 2015
