When the first Horrible Bosses film came out, I was uneven about it. It had a great cast, good premise and was funny at times. But there was something missing which reflected in the ending of the film. When the announcement of Horrible Bosses 2 came out I immediately thought, “Oh God, it’s The Hangover all over again.” But after the release of the newest trailer, I have hope again, well some.
Horrible Bosses 2 keeps its great cast, with exception of the comb-overed Colin Farrell, and introduces new characters to the fold. Jonathan Banks continues to ride off the wave of success he gained from Breaking Bad; Chris Pine looks set to show off his funny side; and Christoph Waltz is back playing a villain again. Wha's great about this trailer is that the film-makers clearly wanted to make something different from the first film. There is a fresher feel from the first film while still keeping what made the first film so popular. Part of that comes from Charlie Day, who is still the best thing in this. He has the best lines and the funniest moments in the trailer.
My problem with Horrible Bosses 2 though is the fact that it is sequel to a film that doesn’t need a sequel. Unless they can really pull something out of the bag here, we could be looking at another Hangover situation here. We are now more intrigued for this film, whether it is any good or improves from the first, we'll just have to wait and see.
