Jennifer Jason Leigh and her family move into their new house (a house in which nothing but bad things happen in, and people know the stories of, but it is still for sale). As they all get adjusted to their new lives, they begin to start having weird dreams, mostly centred on son James, who is in a coma from injuries doctors say cannot be recovered from. But it’s not just dreams; creepy messages on the wall also make it hard for the family to settle into their new home (So basically the plot of every Amityville movie but just a little bit different).
Admittedly, this trailer does have on creepy scene involving maggots (Warning: Do not watch whilst eating) but other than that, it looks about as generic as it can possibly get. Even the title is a run of the mill formulaic sequel name. If you watch it for any reason, maybe watch it to mourn the career of Kurtwood Smith who, after great performances as Clarence Boddiker in Robocop and Red Foreman in That 70s Show, is now starring in tripe like this.
Amityville: The Awakening hits cinemas January 1st. But luckily you’ll be too hungover to even consider going to see it.
