Matt O’Leary and Jessica Cook star as a water and waitress working at a fancy garden party for upper class citizens, who soon become prey for a colony of killer wasps mutated into seven foot tall predators. First off, the poster for this film is excellent; it’s creepy as fuck, and so is this trailer. Whilst it’s not quite a serious horror film, normal wasps in real life are freaking scary, so the thought of giant ones is fucking terrifying. The wasp effects are done pretty well, and the trailer makes no effort to hide just how cheesy the film is, which actually adds to its appeal. It actually looks like a lot of fun, and given its premise, could have some great scares, but as usual with these films, it looks like the cast will leave a lot to be desired.
Stung hits the Tribeca Film Festival in April, though there’s no word of a theatrical release just yet.
Also, am I the only one who wants to hear the end of that bee joke?
