The vast majority of films that are set in prisons predominantly revolve around male prisons with releases like Son of a Gun, The Shawshank Redemption and Scum. Films looking into the plight of women in prison are far and few between, which is a shame considering the incredible success of TV’s Orange Is The New Black. Finally, a trailer has come to change all that and bring about a possibly ground-breaking film...
... Sadly, that last part was a lie. Whilst there is a new trailer out for a film about female prisoners, it’s definitely not the deep female prison film audiences are looking for. This is a trailer for Sharkansas Women’s Prison Massacre. The plot speaks for itself: it revolves around a fracking mishap that rips the Earth’s crust, which results in a hole in the ocean where a shark monster starts causing havoc in a swamp in Arkansas. A group of female prisoners are on work detail in the swamp, right in the way of the shark’s rampage.
With pretty sloppy editing, lazy acting and a plot summary that barely fits the trailer, it’s clear what this film is going to be. This film will likely end up being a classic case of TerriBrill - so terrible it’s actually brilliant. It may not be quite as legendary as The Room, Dungeons & Dragons or Birdemic but it sure as hell is going to try. This is basically another Sharknado scenario.
