With this latest clip released ahead of the film, we see a brief moment at a dinner party of sorts, watching with the guests (amongst them Schoenaerts' Gabriel and Sheen's William) as Mulligan's Bathsheba sings for them all, as was the style of the time. It's a quieter moment, even somewhat fragile, and finds a moment of connection as William joins Bathsheba's song from across the room. A subtle(ish) play made by one prospective suitor over another, done in full view of a crowd of guests, ignorant to the significance.
Oh, but what other subtle reaches for heart and mind shall unfold here? Just have to wait to find out.
Far From the Madding Crowd will be in cinemas this Friday.
