From director Alejandro G. Inarritu, the actual ridiculously long named BiRDMAN or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance is a dark comedy that revolves around an actor set to recharge his life in the theatre after his most famous role as a superhero. However, the play has started to get to him and the stresses soon unfurl, sending him into madness.
“Hammer” shows us just how damaged our lead, played hilarious and astutely by Michael Keaton. The instigating insanity that will see him dwindle throughout the film clearly sparks of wit yet debilitation, humour with a tine of sadness. Sounds right up my street then. I’m not saying you should definitely go see it.
No wait. You really should. Or I shall hit you in the balls with a really really tiny hammer.
BiRDMAN is out January 1st
