Unfortunately, Aloha does not seem to be that movie. In fact, all it provokes is one gigantic yawn. Aloha revolves around a down and out military contractor who is invited to a reunion of one of his greatest career triumphs. Trying to find redemption, he rekindles love with a past romance whilst also simultaneously developing feelings for a young Air Force pilot. Starring Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams and Bradley Cooper, this is a supposed poignant drama with some gusto and heart.
Honestly, I have never wanted to see a movie less than with Aloha. Predictable, boring and ridiculously banal - it seems that all actors, cast and crew here just wanted one thing - a free holiday to Hawaii. What is interesting here really? It is just a bunch of stuffy actors repeating lines that have been said and will continue to be said in just a hotter paradise climate. It’s like The Descendants had a baby with Top Gun and was reared with all the bad elements of both. There is nothing inspiring here and unless Crowe pulls something spectacular out of the park, we’ll be saying Aloha to this.
As in the Goodbye Aloha….
Aloha is out in September.
