Dragon Age: Inquisition will be the third major instalment of the Dragon Age series which, if you didn’t know already, is Bioware’s gift to the fantasy genre. If that doesn’t mean a thing to you then let me explain. Bioware is a company which is known for pumping out very high-quality RPG’s every few years, the most notable of which I would argue are 2007’s Mass Effect and 2003’s Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. They designed Dragon Age to be a spiritual successor to their Baldur’s Gate series, much in the same way that Mass Effect was designed to further develop what they had learned during the production of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

In terms of gameplay Inquisition will flesh out the best of both Origins and DAII, giving the player larger environments and much more opportunity to explore and thereby personalise the campaign. The game will also see the customisation options of the first game in the series return, allowing you to choose what species you want your Inquisitor to be (such as Human, Elf, Dwarf and Qunari). As with most Bioware titles, the choices of the player character will directly affect the outcome of both the story and who survives right to the end. The decisions you make as a major figure in the campaign will also determine which areas become accessible for exploration and which areas are rendered unreachable (perhaps due to them being destroyed). Three countries will be explorable throughout the game as well, including Ferelden (the setting of Origins) and Orlais (which has only ever been mentioned in-game before).
However it turns out, Dragon Age: Inquisition is certainly a game to keep your eyes on.
It is due out October 7th for Xbox 360, PS3, PC and the next-gen consoles (except the WiiU).
