Emotions run high between Charles (James McAvoy) and Erik (Michael Fassbender) as they argue on a plane journey. This clip answers a question that has been on many people’s lips for a while now: Why can Charles walk? Well, it turns out that he did indeed have spinal treatment, however, it affected his DNA. Erik criticises him for sacrificing his powers, claiming he’s lost things too, which Charles scoffs at. He yells at Erik, telling him that he took everything away from him and abandoned him. Erik hits back, turning the plane over and naming all of the mutants they swore to protect but failed to do, all whilst Wolverine watches.
The friendship developed by these two in First Class was brilliant to watch, which it made all the more painful as Erik took off whilst Charles lay paralysed on the beach. Their relationship has changed, but the excellent chemistry between McAvoy and Fassbender certainly hasn’t. They are two of the best actors working today, and if this clips proves anything, it’s that they don’t want us to forget it.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is out in the UK 23rd May.
